Adding Joy to your workweek
How can we find more joy in the workweek, rather than only "living for the weekends?" We have to be more purposeful about scheduling activites on weekdays/nights! Maybe that is as simple as taking a long bath! Or, maybe you look into local Trivia nights, etc. that you could join! This will give you things to look forward to during the week and break up the workweek! Be sure to add whatever you choose to your calendar (weekly) so that it becomes a non-negotiable!
Goal Setting
I have found that I am more fullfilled if I am always working towards at least 1 goal. This does not have to be a big/hard goal. It can be as simple as scheduling myself 10 minutes a day to read 1 chapter of a book! Of course, those that know me see that I often set Huge goals! Last year, I set a goal to run 12 half-marathons in 12 months (1 per month) and I DID IT! It was TOUGH, but it kept me motivated with my running AND further built my confidence! I highly encourage everyone to set goals! They can truly motivate, inspire, and elevate you! Give it a go!
No Limits
Something I have learned recently is that we often sell ourselves short. There are things we want in life that sometimes feel “out of reach.” I encourage all my ladies out there to NOT listen to this inner voice sayin “You can’t” or others telling you that you “can’t". Both are often WRONG. I was told by MANY people (& myself) that I was not yet “qualified” for something that I really and truly wanted. Luckily, I went for it anyway and it PAID OFF because I got what I wanted! So, the point I am trying to make is that life is going to try and set limits on us, so DON’T SET EVEN MORE LIMITS ON YOURSELF!

Take a Shower
Your shower can be the perfect place to enjoy some time for YOU! This may be the only alone time you get most days, so make it count! There are so many ways to transform your shower into a spa experience. For example, by simply turning down the lights and playing some music, you can completely change the ambience! You can also add tools and toys to compliment your shampoos, conditioners, and body washes such as scalp scrubbers, face scrubbers, back scratchers, and massagers! I also like to use shower steamers to add a soothing aroma! Just remember, this is the perfect chance to hide away from the world and enjoy a little mini pamper session! Now go get your shower on!
Sing Out Loud!
Did you know that singing out loud has MAJOR psychological benefits? it actually releases “happy hormones” that can directly lift your mood. It can even elevate your energy levels! So be sure to belt out your favorite tunes next time you are in the shower, in the car, or WHEREVER the mood strikes you! No holding back! Turns out, singing is a FREE and effective form of Self-Care! WOOHOO!
My Fur Babies
My Fur Babies hold a very special place in my heart. They are my little kiddos! No matter what kind of day I am having, I know my fur children are going to smother me with kisses, cuddles, and love! They are always at the door, excited to see me, even if I have only been gone a few minutes! They are the BEST form of therapy I could ask for. They are literally a form of Self-Care! There is just nothing like the unconditional love that they provide. I truly believe that they are angels sent to us from God and our past love ones to provide us with the comfort and support that we so deeply need. Here’s to our Fur Angels!
Makeup
I get asked a lot why I love makeup. Honestly, I have never been a “girly girl.” Running and video games are actually my go-to hobbies! However, I enjoy makeup for many reasons! First, it gives me a creative outlet. I love coming up with new looks. It is like an art to me! I also use it as a way to accessorize and express myself. Makeup is an extention of my outfit each day, and for what mood I am in! Some days I feel simplistic and natural. Others, I feel bold and colorful! Finally, I love problem-solving with makeup. I truly enjoy learning and sharing new tips and tricks that others can use to fix a makeup issue. All in all, my main goal is to inspire others to get out of their comfort zones and try something new!
Treat Yourself
Self-Care is something that we forget to “sprinkle” into our lives routinely. Women, by nature, are caregivers and we put everyone else’s needs first. We often forget that we need to put ourselves first sometimes and “fill our own cups.” You are only able to be your BEST self for others if your own “glass is full.” Self-Care is any activity that brings you JOY. It can be shopping. taking a walk, singing, or creating your favorite Makeup Look! If it puts a smile on your face and lifts your spirits, then it is Self-Care! Also, we should not feel bad about spending time on ourselves. Self-Care is NOT selfish! Remember, you cannot “pour from an empty cup!” :)
The meaning of Beauty
When I think of Beauty, I think of all the things that bring me Joy. There is so much Beauty in the world to be seen. Beauty is not on the surface. It is inside of us and our environments. To act kindly, is to be Beautiful. A tree providing us with clean oxygen is Beautiful. A simple smile is Beautiful. Beauty is truly all around us. We just have to open our minds and our hearts and we will not only see the Beauty in the world, but also the Beauty within ourselves.
Smile
A smile has incredible powers! When we smile, it triggers our brains to feel happy. This is the start of the positive feedback loop of happiness! Smiling stimulates our brain’s reward mechanisms in a way that even chocolate, a well-regarded pleasure-inducer, cannot match! A smile is also contagious.
Smiling has the power to change your mood and the moods of others.
